Free-fall Sound Barrier Attempt

At SlashdotSkydiver To Break Sound Barrier During Free-Fall

An interesting read (linked in the article) is the work Air Force Captain Kittinger did over 50 years ago in high altitude ballooning and free-fall.  It also answers a lot of the questions asked in comments.  He got up to 614 MPH in his experiments.

The sounds like similar technology will be used in the new attempt.
